Over the past two weeks, we’ve talked about hormonal recalibration and the role stress plays in midlife physiology.
This week, I want to tell you about a client.
She came to me in her mid 50s frustrated and exhausted.
She was eating “healthy.”
She was exercising consistently.
She was trying to power through.
But she didn’t recognize herself anymore.
Her sleep was fragmented.
Her anxiety felt new and unpredictable.
She was bloated most days.
Her weight had steadily climbed despite doing all the “right” things.
And she had begun to quietly assume this was just what aging felt like.
Her conventional labs were “normal.”
But her body was clearly asking for support.
Instead of guessing, we tested.
We ran the DUTCH Hormone Test to evaluate cortisol rhythm, progesterone patterns, and estrogen metabolism. We also used the GI-MAP to understand what was happening in her gut — because hormones and digestion are deeply connected.
What we found was not dramatic — but it was revealing.
Her cortisol rhythm was dysregulated. She was wired at night and depleted in the morning.
Her progesterone pattern reflected midlife decline amplified by stress.
Her estrogen metabolism needed support.
Her gut showed imbalances contributing to inflammation and bloating.
None of this meant she was broken.
It meant her body was adapting to stress without enough recovery.
We did not crash diet.
We did not over-exercise.
We did not eliminate everything.
Instead, we recalibrated.
We stabilized blood sugar with consistent, protein-forward meals.
We supported detox pathways gently.
We healed her gut strategically.
We prioritized sleep rhythm.
We shifted her workouts from chronic cardio to strength and walking.
We regulated her nervous system instead of pushing through exhaustion.
The result?
She began sleeping through the night.
Her anxiety softened.
Her bloating decreased.
Her energy stabilized.
And over time — without extremes — she lost 56 pounds.
More importantly, her body became responsive again.
Her confidence returned.
Her inflammation reduced.
Her mood steadied.
She felt strong instead of depleted.
This is what happens when we stop blaming willpower and start supporting physiology.
Testing did not fix her.
But testing gave us clarity.
Nutrition and lifestyle created the shift.
This is why I created my Advanced Functional Healing Program — where we combine the insight of the DUTCH and GI-MAP with three months of personalized nutrition and lifestyle strategy. Because midlife transformation is not about doing more.
It’s about doing what your body actually needs.
Next week, we’re going to talk about something most women are never told in midlife: your gut and your hormones are constantly communicating — and if digestion slows, symptoms intensify.
If you’re recognizing yourself in her story — feeling dismissed, confused, or stuck — you don’t have to guess your way through this season.
A 90-Minute Health History Analysis allows us to evaluate your patterns and determine whether advanced testing or comprehensive support is the right next step.
Midlife is not a slow decline.
It can be a powerful reset — when supported intentionally.
With clarity and steady support,
Reg
